Add A Smile To Your Morning Coffee... Mugs with attitude. These humourous, 'cheeky yet tasteful' limited-edition coffee mugs feature illustrations by acclaimed Contempori artist Judi Thomas. Printed on both sides, there are only 50 of each design in this range –...
Judi’s work is full of related themes: of divorce, of love, of sex and of bondage.
Judi’s work has echoes of Jean Miro, Aubrey Beardsley and Frida Kahlo. She’s controversial, personal – and certainly not afraid to speak out, bringing a uniquely feminist voice to our platform.
“In my women you can often see an awareness that they are being looked at,” says Judi, and, in equal measure, that they genuinely don’t care about your opinion.”
Judi’s initiation into art came during the apartheid era in her native South Africa. A life-long affair with anorexia is visible in the emaciated women she often draws, so too the unashamed nudity and sexuality of her women speak to her rejection of shaming as a tool of patriarchal control.
